About the MS Library

About the Library:
The GVMS Library has more than 13,000 titles that support the Middle School curriculum and provide leisure reading opportunities for the students and faculty. We have extensive fiction and nonfiction areas, a makerspace, computers and iPads, and a student reading room. There is also comfortable seating for leisure reading or working on projects with classmates.

The library is open whenever school is open, and students are encouraged to use it to find high-quality literature, as well as to conduct research. Provided they have a pass from class, students may use the library whenever they need to do so. In addition, teachers are welcome to bring their classes in to conduct research, learn about young adult literature, or borrow books. Stop by and say hello! Whether it's to work on a project, read a book, or just sit and relax- the library belongs to all of us! Use it!

Personnel:
Mrs. Cleary is the librarian. This is her fourteenth year here at Garnet Valley Middle School. After thirteen years as an 8th grade ELA teacher she decided to take her love of getting kids to read to the library. She will probably stop you in the hallway to talk about that book you are carrying or to ask you what you are reading.

Mrs. Smith is the library assistant. This is her second year in the library! She is super helpful and friendly, and always willing to give out book recommendations!

Parent volunteers help to staff the library as well and without everyone's help, the library would not be in the terrific shape it is in. Thanks!
